Correlation between Students’ Metacognitive Strategy and their Reading Comprehension in Higher Education

Numerous studies have been undertaken on metacognitive awareness and reading comprehension at the secondary school level. Consequently, this study focuses these characteristics within higher education This aims to reveal students' in strategies, levels of their comprehension, how two variables are correlated education. To achieve mentioned objectives, quantitative method, particularly descriptive correlational approaches were employed. study's sample consisted fifth-semester English Education students IAIN Bone throughout 2020/2021 academic year. Cluster random sampling is method utilized study. In order collect necessary data, instruments used, which questionnaire students’ strategy, test find out comprehension. The result showed that most routinely employed strategies while material, among three Problem-solving Reading Strategies was popular option. Besides, indicates characterized as weak. Furthermore, strategy has an effect since they involve use self-awareness intentional motivation employ one or more techniques for keeping tabs well grasping what they're reading. It can be concluded who a greater chance understanding text, when compared with poor strategy.
